Ingredients to make Fried Shawarma

  • For the shawarma dough
  • all purpose flour 1 cup
  • yeast 1/4 tsp
  • sugar 1 tsp
  • oil 1 tsp
  • Warm water
  • For filling:
  • onion 1
  • Green chilli 1
  • carrot 1/2 cup
  • cabbage 1 cup
  • Cooked and shredded chicken 1 cup
  • chilli Powder 1/2 tsp
  • Salt and pepper as per taste
  • Mayonnaise 3/4 cup
  • chilli sauce (optional)

How to make Fried Shawarma

  1. Dissolve yeast in some warm water with sugar. When it rises,add to the flour, along with salt,oil. knead for sometime with hand. Then add yeast. If needed add enough, but only, warm water,to make smooth dough. Knead for sometime. Keep aside for 1 or 2 hrs.
  2. Now prepare the filling. Cook chicken with some salt & turmeric. shred it . Mix all the ingredients in filling, chop well, add some salt , pepper chilli powder. Add mayonnaise,if needed
  3. Now,take a big ball from the dough,roll into a very big thin chappati. Cut into rounds. Put the filling in half rounds ,cover it with another piece of dough shaped as a circle Close the ends well.
  4. Deep fry them, but don't let the veggies inside cook. Serve hot with mayo & chilli sauce.

My Tip:

The filling can be made only with veg shawarma is not so spicy. But if you want, you can make it spicy, adding enough masalas.
