Date Almond Cake

Ingredients to make Date Almond Cake

  • all purpose flour/maida 1 cup (150 gms)
  • Milk 3/4 cup
  • sugar 1/2 cup
  • butter/oil 1/2 cup (I have used unsalted butter)
  • dates 15-18
  • almonds 20-25
  • Baking powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • baking soda 1/2 teaspoon
  • cinnamon powder 1/4 teaspoon
  • salt a pinch

How to make Date Almond Cake

  1. Deseed dates and soak in warm milk for 20 minutes
  2. Boil almonds in water for 3-4 minutes and allow to cool.
  3. Peel almonds and cut them into thin slices
  4. Sieve maida, baking, powder, soda and salt together 2 -3 times
  5. Grind dates and sugar to a smooth paste
  6. Transfer the contents into a vessel
  7. Add melted butter/oil, cinnamon powder and mix well
  8. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C
  9. Grease the cake mould
  10. Add maida 2 spoons at a time to make batter
  11. After all maida is added add almond slices.
  12. Transfer the batter to greased cake mould.
  13. Spread the remaining almond slices on top
  14. Bake in oven for 25-30 minutes
  15. Test with a knife. If the knife comes out clean; cake is baked
  16. Leave it to cool for 10-15 minutes. Slice and serve

My Tip:

You can use any other dry fruits with / in place of almonds.
