ABOUT Bakerkhani / Bakar Khani (Pakistani Style) RECIPE

This very tasty bread is eaten as a staple in Dhaaka , Bangladesh and is a delicacy of many places such as Kashmir, Hyderabad also Pakistan. I liked the Pakistani Bakar Khani, and enjoyed these for breakfast in Karachi. Here I have made the dough myself and not used puff pastry

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 250 grams all purpose flour
  2. 1 cup milk
  3. 1/2 tspn salt
  4. 50 grams sugar
  5. 1 egg for egg wash preparation
  6. 50 grams ghee or butter (ghee is better though) vegetable ghee ie dalda or pure as per choice)
  7. 1 tspn baking powder optional

Instructions

  1. Sieve together salt , All purpose flour and baking powder
  2. Add milk slowly and mix flour to form a dough, adding some ghee
  3. Rest the flour covered for at least an hour
  4. Now make balls and spread with rolling Pin, oblong or square , apply ghee and dust some flour all over
  5. Start rolling in into thin long rolls and form these
  6. Now form jalebi of the roll and press
  7. Press and now start pressing all sides to seal the centre layers to not break
  8. Beat one egg for egg wash and take some sugar in a bowl
  9. Now apply egg wash on each and sprinkle sugar all over
  10. Preheat oven for 15 minutes at 180° Cand place these on greased baking tray. Bake for 20 minutes
  11. Use center rack with both the rods on to get crust both on top and bottom
  12. Enjoy for break fast.
