ABOUT Churma RECIPE

Here I present the famous Rajasthani Traditional churma, sweetened with jaggery.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Coarsely ground wheat flour-1 1/2cup
  2. Ghee-6tbsp
  3. ghee for frying
  4. Chopped jaggery-3/4cup
  5. Water-1/2cup+1/3cup

Instructions

  1. .Combine the whole wheat flour and ½ cup of water in a bowl and knead into a stiff dough.
  2. Divide the dough into equal portions and shape each portion and press with your fingers in the centre of each portion.
  3. Heat the ghee in anon-stick pan and deep fry dough portions at a time, on a medium flame for 20-25 minutes or till they turn golden brown in colour from all the sides.
  4. Once cooled, break them into small pieces and blend in a mixer to a coarse powder. Keep aside.
  5. In a pan, add the jaggery and 1/3 cup of water, mix well and cook on a slow flame for 3 to 4 minutes, while stirring continuously and make one string consistency.
  6. Add 6tbsp of melted ghee to the melted jaggery
  7. Combine churma and melted jaggery.
  8. Allow it to cool slightly .
  9. Serve immediately and garnish with almonds and pistachios flakes or store in an air tight container.
