Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Arhar dal 2 cups
  2. Chana dal 1 cup
  3. Chopped vegetables medium size (potato, pumpkin, parwal, raw banana, brinjal, papaya) 2 medium bowls
  4. Grated ginger 1/2 inch
  5. Salt and turmeric as per taste
  6. Grated coconut 3/4 cup
  7. Curry leaves 1 stick
  8. Ghee 4 tbsp
  9. Dry red chillies 2 nos
  10. Panch phoran 2 tbsp
  11. Hing a pinch
  12. Mix roasted ground masala ( black pepper 1 tsp, cumin seeds 4 tbsp, dry red chillies 2 nos) - 4 tbsp
  13. Chopped coriander leaves few
  14. Bay leaves - 2 nos
  15. Sugar 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. First pressure cook all the chopped vegetables adding grated ginger, bay leaves, salt, turmeric, sugar and dals for one or two whistles. then keep aside
  2. After cooling down remove lid and now prepare for seasoning
  3. Slightly warm ghee and add panch phoran, dry red chillies, curry leaves and hing, let panch phoran to splutter well
  4. Add directly to the cooked vegetables dal mix and cover immediately with lid for 5 mins so that the aroma of seasoning mixes well
  5. Now remove lid add, grated coconut, chopped coriander leaves and grounded masala and mix well, cover once more for 5 mins
  6. Now our dalma is ready to be served...It tastes best with poori/ rice topped with ghee/ slight sweet rice
