Spinach cheese balls make a yummy starter to any party and serve as a great snack for cozy weekend evenings. Simple and easy to make with just a few ingredients lying in your pantry.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2 Cups : Spinach
  2. 2 : Green chilies
  3. 2 : Garlic cloves
  4. Salt to taste
  5. 1.5 to 2 Cups : Fresh Bread crumbs
  6. 1 Cup : Shredded Mozarella cheese
  7. 1 small : Onion chopped
  8. 2 tsp : Red chilli flakes
  9. 1 tsp : Italian herbs
  10. 1/2 cup : Fine Corn meal (to coat the balls)
  11. Oil for Deep frying


  1. In a blender jar add spinach, garlic, chilies, salt and blend into smooth puree without adding water. Add the bread crumbs as required and make into thick dough like batter.
  2. Take the mozarella cheese into another bowl and add chopped onions, italian herbs, chilli flakes. Give them a good stir.
  3. Wet your palms with water and shape the cheese mixture into marble sized balls and set them ready.
  4. Start heating up oil in a deep pan for frying. Apply a drop of oil on to your palms and take a spoonful of spinach batter and shape it in to a disc. In the center of it place one cheese ball and seal it's edges. Reshape into a smooth ball without any cracks.
  5. Roll this ball in corn meal and set aside on a plate. Repeat and shape the rest in the same manner. Once the oil gets hot add the balls to it and deep fry until done on medium heat.
  6. Drain them on a paper towel and serve hot with ketchup or any dip of choice.
