Alu Vadiyan Amritsari[ Urad Dal Dumplings]

Ingredients to make Alu Vadiyan Amritsari[ Urad Dal Dumplings]

  • 1/2 kg - potatoes cubed
  • 6-7 tomatoes pureed
  • 2 Large onions minced
  • 1 tsp - ginger - garlic paste
  • 4-5 Vadiyan
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp - coriander powder
  • 1/2 Tsp - red chilli powder
  • 1/2 Tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1/2 Tsp - jeera powder
  • 1 tsp - Shahi jeera
  • 1 Big cardamom
  • 1 tsp - garam masala
  • 3-4 cloves
  • 6-7 pepper corns
  • 1/2 cup - whipped curd
  • 1 tsp - Kasuri methi
  • 1 tbsp - freshly chopped coriander
  • 2 tbsp - Refined oil

How to make Alu Vadiyan Amritsari[ Urad Dal Dumplings]

  1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker
  2. Add jeera, cardamom n cloves, minced onions, ginger garlic paste.Saute till brown.
  3. Add vadiyan at this stage, water and saute for 5mins.
  4. Now add salt and Kasuri methi.
  5. Add the pureed tomatoes
  6. Add all the masala and stir well
  7. Cook on slow flame for 10 min
  8. When it leaves oil from sides
  9. Add potatoes
  10. Now add the whipped curd
  11. Adjust spices & salt
  12. Mix gently,
  13. Pressure cook for 2 whistles
  14. After steam gets released
  15. Transfer to serving bowl
  16. Add coriander leaves
  17. Add Garam masala
  18. Serve hot with steamed rice, parathas or roti.

Always make sure to saute masalas well.
