ABOUT Pyaz Ki Pakodi... RECIPE

An all time favourite tea time snack from Hyderabad city. This one is sure to win your hearts. The main ingredients used are simple and available in every kitchen. The trick lies in having more onions and less of gram flour. This is what makes it crispy. This tastes equally good with plain rice and khatti dal. An evergreen snack that never fails.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Onion sliced 6-7
  2. Gram flour or besan 3/4 th cup
  3. Salt to taste
  4. Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
  5. Red chilli powder 1 tbsp heaped
  6. Cumin powder 1 tsp
  7. coriander powder 1 tsp
  8. Green onions chopped finely 1/2 cup (optional)
  9. Baking soda a pinch (optional)
  10. Curry leaves a handful
  11. Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Slice the onions thinly.
  2. Add in all the other ingredients one by one.
  3. Now add in the gram flour little by little and mix it with the hand.
  4. Mixing with the hand is recommended here.
  5. Do not add any water to it.
  6. Make a thick batter.
  7. Leave it aside for 20 minutes.
  8. When the batter is resting, it gets little moisture due to the onions.
  9. Heat oil and drop the pakodis into it one by one.
  10. Deep fry some curry leaves and add on top while serving.
  11. Do not over crowd the kadai.
  12. Deep fry on medium flame so that it gets cooked evenly.
  13. Serve hot with dum ki chai.
