It is a quick and yummy dessert for a sweet cravings. Main ingredient used is bread milk.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. bread slices 6 to 7
  2. milk 2 cups
  3. sugar 1/2 cup or as required
  4. ghee 1/2 cup
  5. cardamom 2 teaspoon
  6. badam 5
  7. cashews 10 ( 5 for grinding and 5 for garnish)


  1. Cut the bread slices to tiny pieces. If you want cut the edges as well.
  2. In a pan add 2 tablespoons of ghee.
  3. Add the bread pieces and roast it till golden brown on a medium flame.
  4. It should be golden in colour, so make sure the heat is low .
  5. Now add milk and sugar to the roasted bread.
  6. Bring to boil and put the flame to low.
  7. Let it cook for few minutes and mash it as it gets cooked and becomes soft.
  8. Meanwhile grind almond, cashew and cardamom first to a powder. Then add little water to make it as a paste.
  9. Add this paste to the cooked bread.
  10. Add the remaining cup of ghee.
  11. Keep mixing and mashing it well until ghee oozes out.
  12. In a separate pan add a teaspoon of ghee and fry the remaining cashew until golden brown in color, transfer to halwa and mix well.
  13. Your yummy bread halwa is ready to be serve.
