ABOUT Turmeric Cardamom Arrowroot Custard RECIPE

The turmeric roots from my garden produced some wonderful aromatic and pure, organic turmeric powder. This gets regularly added in food at home and very often as golden milk. Now it’s no longer fun. It is holiday time and we are hungry all the time and this leads to new experiments like the turmeric arrowroot custard flavored with cardamom.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2 tablespoon heaped arrowroot powder
  2. 1 litre of milk
  3. 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  4. 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  5. sugar to taste
  6. fruit cuts of choice
  7. organic edible flowers to garnish

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix the arrow root powder with three to four tablespoon of milk to form a lump free mixture and set aside.
  2. Pour the rest of the milk into a heavy saucepan and slowly bring to a boil.
  3. Pour in the slurry into the boiling milk on low heat and stir well to make sure there are no lumps.
  4. Add the turmeric and keep stirring till the custard thickens slowly.
  5. Add in the sugar and thicken it a bit further. Cook the custard till the raw smell of the arrowroot is gone
  6. Sprinkle the cardamom powder and remove from heat.
  7. Set aside to come to room temperature.
  8. Meanwhile assemble the fruits of choice like berries, mango, apple and toss the fruits.
  9. Ladle this fruit mixture into individual cups.
  10. Top these cups with the cooled custard and set to chill for an hour or more.
  11. When serving sprinkle a few nuts, basil seeds and some edible flowers.
  12. Your elegant party style dessert is ready.
