ABOUT Coconut Fish Curry RECIPE

a spicy goan fish curry with a touch of nigella, seeds, generally served with boiled rice.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1/2 kg fish fillet
  2. 1 medium size onion finely chopped
  3. 10-12 Dried red chillies
  4. 1/4 tsp - Cumin seeds
  5. 4-5 - black peppercorns ground
  6. 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  7. salt to taste
  8. 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  9. Tamarind paste-2 tbsp
  10. 3 tbsp oil
  11. 2 cup of water
  12. 2 tsp vinegar
  13. sprinkle of nigella seeds(kalonji)
  14. 1/2 cup Coconut milk

Instructions

  1. Cut the fish into medium pieces and marinate with salt and 1/2 tsp pepper for 15-20 mins
  2. Grind red chillies, tamarind paste, pepper, garlic ginger paste, cumin seeds, turmeric powder and little water together and make a paste
  3. Saute the onions till brown.
  4. Add the prepared paste and cook for 2 minutes
  5. Add 1 cup of water.
  6. Cook till water comes to boil then add fish and coconut milk.
  7. Cook on low flame till the fish is tender enough.
  8. Add salt to taste and vinegar.sprinkle the nigella seeds.
  9. Serve with rice or malabar parantha.
