ABOUT Sabudana or Sago Khichdi RECIPE

Sago Khichdi is relished by one and all and I am in love with these white pearls. Though it's easy to make still needs expertise to get it perfect and this comes from understanding, practice and patience. So here is my recipe for Sago Khichdi.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Sago - 1 Cup
  2. Green chills -3 to 4 finnaly chopped
  3. peanuts - 1/4th cup
  4. Green chills -3 to 4 finnaly chopped
  5. curry leaves -8 to 10
  6. Jeera /cumin seeds -1/2 teaspoon
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Ghee - 2 tablespoon
  9. Fresh Coriander - 2 tablespoon finally chopped

Instructions

  1. First and the most important step in the recipe that decides the texture of your khichdi. wash and soak sago in water just an inch above for 3 to 4 hours. It will absorb the water and become dry and fluffy)
  2. In a pan heat ghee and add jeera and rai . let it splutter.
  3. Now add peanuts and fry on low heat till it becomes golden in colour.
  4. Add chopped chilles and curry leaves.
  5. Now add sago pearls stir and cook covered for a while checking inbetween.
  6. U will see Pearls become transparent. Cook uncovered for 2 minutes add salt and give a mix.
  7. take off the fire and serve garnished with fresh coriander.
