ABOUT Rice Chakli RECIPE

Chakli is a savoury snack which is very famous in most of Indian house in most of the world. it's mostly made in Diwali. It tastes very nice with masala tea. In my mother's time they used to make with rice flour only. But now people make with wholewheat and plain flour also.

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. Rice flour 2 cups
  2. Besan/Gram flour 3/4 cup
  3. Butter 2 1/2 teaspoon
  4. Yogurt 2 tablespoon
  5. Chilli powder 2 teaspoon
  6. Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspooon
  7. Sesame seeds 1 tablespoon
  8. Hing a pinch
  9. Salt to taste
  10. Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Add sieved rice flour and Besan in a deep bowl. Add butter, salt, sesame seeds, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, hing and butter and mix properly
  2. Add yogurt and mix properly
  3. Knead firm dough with help of warm water. Cover with lid and keep aside for 30 minutes
  4. Grease chakli machine and chakli mould. Place chakli mould in the machine
  5. Divide the dough into equal portions. Mash one portion of dough with palm and add it to the machine and close the lid.
  6. Press the dough into spirals of chakli on a wax paper or greased plastic sheet.
  7. Heat the oil in a frying pan or kadai. Take the pressed chaklis in a spatula and carefully slide it into the hot oil.
  8. Fry them on medium heat until the bubbles are stopped and you get a lovely golden color.
  9. Remove them on absorbent paper. Let them cool down completely
  10. Store them in airtight container
