Ingredients to make Mawa and gulab jamun cake

  • For mawa cake sponge
  • maida 1 cup
  • Powdered sugar 1/2 cup
  • Oil+2 tbsp butter 2 tablespoon
  • Green cardamom powder 1/ 2 teaspoon
  • Baking powder 11/2 teaspoon
  • Grated khoya 1/2 cup
  • Milk as required to bring batter in pouring consistency
  • For gulab jamun
  • Grated khoya 1 cup
  • Grated paneer 1/2 cup
  • maida 2 tablespoon
  • Pinch of elaichi powder
  • Pinch of baking powder
  • For syrup
  • sugar 1 cup
  • water 1/2 cup
  • Pinch of green cardamom powder
  • Few saffron strands
  • For frosting
  • Whipped cream 2 cup
  • Roasted mixed nuts
  • For garnishing
  • saffron strands dissolved in milk
  • Roasted chopped mixed nuts

How to make Mawa and gulab jamun cake

  1. Mawa sponge
  2. In a bowl beat butter sugar and oil till sugar is dissolved
  3. Sieve Maida , baking powder and green cardamom powder for three times and keep it aside.
  4. Now mix Maida mixture and oil sugar mixture .
  5. To this add grated khoya and milk and mix well
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 170 degree for 35 mins or till skewer comes out clean
  7. Cool the cake and cut in layers
  8. Sugar syrup for Gulab jamun
  9. Heat sugar and water. To this add green cardamom powder and saffron strands
  10. Cook till 2 string sugar syrup consistency is made
  11. For Gulab.jamun
  12. Knead all the ingredients with palm.of hand to make it completely smooth. Form small balls out of it .
  13. Fry in oil
  14. Soak in prepares sugar syrup for 30 mins
  15. For frosting
  16. Cut Gulab jamun in small pieces
  17. Roast mixed nuts
  18. Whip cream
  19. For assembling
  20. Frost each layer of cake with whip cream , small pieces of Gulab jamun and roasted nuts
  21. Decorate with whole Gulab jamun on top. Garnish with saffron strands dissolved in milk .and nuts
  22. Cut in pieces and serve

My Tip:

Add roasted nuts in between layers for crunchiness
