ABOUT Dholak Cake RECIPE

Indian Dhol is symbol of Festival, happiness and tradition. And this cake is perfact for any celebration. This cake is made of chocolate sponge.. for this we needed 4 sponge cakes. I am sharing recipe for 1 sponge cake so cooking time is shared according to that. Preparation time contains complete assembeling and decoration of cake.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. *For 1 Sponge*
  2. Flour / Maida 1-1/2 cup
  3. Baking powder 1 teaspoon
  4. Baking soda 1/2 teaspoon
  5. Cocoa Powder 1/2 teaspoon
  6. Curd 1 cup
  7. Hot water 1 cup
  8. Sugar 1 cup
  9. Vanilla Essence 1 teaspoon
  10. Vinegar 1 tablespoon
  11. *For Chocolate Ganache*
  12. Dark Chocolate 2 cups
  13. Fresh Cream 1-1/2 Cup
  14. *For Decoration*
  15. Some fondent

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven at 180 degree for 10 minutes. Grease a 8 inch cake Tin with butter and dust some flour. Keep aside.
  2. Seive flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa powder together and keep aside. In a bowl add milk and vinegar mix and keep aside for 2 minutes.
  3. After 2 minutes you will see milk is curdled. Add sugar, oil, Vanilla Essence to this and mix well. Add Flour mixture and mix well.
  4. Add boiled water and mix well. Pour ready cake better in Greased tin and bake at 180 degree for 35 minutes in preheated oven.
  5. After 35 minutes check the cake with a toothpick. If the toothpick comes out clean means your cake is ready. Let it cool down Completely. Make all 4 cakes by the same way.
  6. For the Chocolate Ganache: In a microwave-safe bowl add chopped dark chocolate and cream and microwave it for 30 seconds.
  7. Chocolate ganache is ready. Let it cool down. On butter paper put 1 sponge cake apply some ganache on it. Place 2nd cake in it again apply some ganache. Repeat the same till 4th cake. Now lay down the cake tower vertically on cake board. Remove the butter paper. Shape both sides of the cake in a dholak.
  8. Cover complete cake with chocolate ganache. Roll out white fondant and cut in 2 roundels to cover both the sides. Cover both the side of dholak with white roundels.
  9. Now cut 2 small roundels from brown fondant and stick in between of white fondant. Decorate rest of the cake using fondant. Your beautiful dholak cake is ready.
