Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. Wholewheat flour 2 cups
  2. Sugar3/4 cups
  3. Milk 3/4 cup
  4. Hot ghee 3 tablespoon
  5. Cardamon powder/elaichi powder 1/2 teaspoon
  6. A pinch of salt
  7. Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Sieve flour in a big bowl. Add elaichi powder and salt and mix properly and keep aside
  2. Heat ghee and add to flour
  3. Warm milk and add sugar and mix till it dissolves. pour this over the flour mixture.
  4. Slowly, keep mixing to form a slightly firm yet smooth dough.
  5. Knead for a good 5 minutes. Cover and set aside for at least 30 minutes
  6. Divide the dough into equal portions
  7. Roll the dough into a large thick circle or thin as you like
  8. Use a sharp knife or a pizza cutter to cut into 1/2" width long horizontal strips. Cut these strips vertically so that you achieve diamond cuts.
  9. Remove each cut piece and place on a plate so that you can drop them easily into the hot oil while deep frying.
  10. Heat oil in kadai or deep pan on medium heat
  11. Place few of the cut pieces carefully into the hot oil without overcrowding the kadai
  12. Fry them till they are golden brown in colour while turning them
  13. Remove them on paper towel and let them cool down.
  14. Store them in air-tight container
