ABOUT Whole wheat Jackfruit Buns RECIPE

Mangalore buns is made of maida and banana and it is deep fried. I made it healthy by using wheat flour and used jackfruit pulp instead of banana and baked it.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Whole Wheat Flour 1 cup
  2. Chiroti Rava 1/4 cup
  3. Instant yeast 1/2 tsp
  4. Sugar 3 teaspoon
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Jackfruit pulp 1/2 cup
  7. Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
  8. Ghee 2 spoons to knead the dough Milk to brush
  9. Butter to rub on buns

Instructions

  1. Mix wheat flour and rava with yeast and keep.
  2. Take a bowl, add sugar, salt and jack pulp. Mix well till sugar dissolves.
  3. Now add the flour mixture, cumin seeds  and prepare a  soft dough. Apply ghee and knead well for about 4-5 minutes.
  4. Let the dough rest for about 2-3 hours. It will double in volume.
  5. Knead again for two minutes. Little ghee can be added to avoid sticking.
  6. Prepare balls and keep in lined baking tray by maintaining distance between each ball. Keep aside for 15 minutes.
  7. Now preheat oven at 180 degree for ten minutes. Brush each balls with milk. Bake at 180 degree for about 20 minutes.
  8. Now apply butter on top of buns and bake for 5 more minutes.
  9. Now hot buns are ready to eat with Tea or coffee.
  10. Tastes similar to our Mangalore buns. Turned out light, soft and spongy
