Jam Bites

Ingredients to make Jam Bites

  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup Milk
  • 6-8 slices bread
  • 5-6 tbsp Jam of your choice - adjust
  • 5-6 teaspoon butter - adjust
  • water if required
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract optional
  • Oil or butter for frying

How to make Jam Bites

  1. Mix flour egg, sugar, salt, vanilla extract and milk well to form batter without lumps. Keep it aside for 1 hour
  2. Trim edges of the bread slices
  3. Apply butter on one side for each slice.
  4. Invert buttered side and apply jam on other side
  5. Press the jam sides together to form sandwich and then slice into squares
  6. If you are going to deep fry then use oil or if you wish to shallow fry use butter. Melt butter or heat oil as per frying preference
  7. If batter is too thick only then add water. Now dip the bread squares in batter
  8. Deep fry or shallow fry over medium heat until golden brown. Drain excess oil over tissue paper
  9. Serve warm. Sprinkle with icing sugar if required. Discard any leftover batter
