Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Idlis 5 to 6
  2. Maida / all-purpose flour 1/2cup
  3. Corn flour / corn starch 1/4cup
  4. salt to taste
  5. Red chilli powder 1 tablespoon
  6. Black pepper, crushed 1/4 tablespoon
  7. Soy sauce 1 tablespoon
  8. water as required
  9. oil for deep frying
  10. Finely chopped onion 1/2
  11. Finely chopped ginger 1/2inch
  12. Finely chopped 3 garlic cloves
  13. Capsicum 1/2 cubed
  14. Tomato sauce 1/4 cup
  15. Chilli sauce (optional) 1/2 tablespoon
  16. salt to taste
  17. Vinegar 2 tablespoons
  18. Soy sauce 2 tablespoons
  19. Spring onion, 1 finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Chop all the idlis into 4 quarters and keep aside.
  2. In a large bowl mix together take maida, corn flour, salt, kashmiri red chilli powder, black pepper and soy sauce. give a good mix.
  3. Now add little water and mix well. make a smooth batter. the batter should be of dropping consistency.
  4. Dip each idli pieces into the batter. coat them well and deep fry.
  5. Flip over and fry till they turn light golden brown and crispy.Drain the fried idlis on a kitchen paper towel to remove excess oil.
  6. In a large kadai add 2 tsp oil add chopped onion. saute for a minute.
  7. Now add chopped ginger and garlic. saute for a minute. you can also add green chilli if you prefer spicy.Next fry chopped capsicum.
  8. Add tomato sauce, chilli sauce add salt to taste and add 2 tsp of soya sauce and vinegar. give a good stir and cook for a minute.
  9. Now add the deep fried idlis and give a good mix. coat the idli pieces well with sauce.
  10. lastly add some chopped spring onions greens and mix.
  11. Serve with veg fried rice or Rotis.
