Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Raw Rice / Pacharisi – 2 cups
  2. Cooked rice-3/4 cup
  3. Fresh Coconut – 1 cup grated
  4. Sugar – 2 tblspn
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Baking Soda – 1/2 tsp
  7. Water as needed for grinding
  8. Oil for greasing pan

Instructions

  1. Take raw rice in a bowl and wash it well. Now cover it with clean water and let it soak for 4 to 6 hours .
  2. Once it is soaked drain it and add it to blender. Now add in cooked rice,coconut and blend them.
  3. Once it is half blended, add water and make it into a smooth paste.
  4. Now take them in a air tight container.Add salt and mix with hand. Cover it and let it ferment overnight.
  5. The next day, add sugar, baking soda and some water and make it into a smooth runny batter.
  6. Now heat your non stick appam chati on medium heat. Pour a ladleful of batter in the center and swirl the pan to coat the sides.
  7. Cover it and let it cook for 45 second to a min.
  8. Now open the lid and remove the appam. Serve it with any curry.
