ABOUT Chicken Daleem RECIPE

A very famous street food which is seen only during Ramadan in Hyderabad, Bangalore and many more places, cooked with broken wheat, all types of dals and chicken or mutton.

Ingredients Serving: 7

  1. Broken wheat - 1 1/2 cup
  2. Dals (tuvar, chane ki dal, urad ki dal) - 1 full fist
  3. Rice - 1 fist
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Ginger garlic paste - 2 tbsp
  6. Red chilli powder - 2 tbsp
  7. Homemade Garam masala powder - 1 tbsp
  8. Lemon juice - 1 cup
  9. Barista (fried onions for garnish) - 1 cup
  10. Onions - 2
  11. Tomatoes - 2
  12. Coriander and mint leaves - 1 cup
  13. Curd- 1/2 litre
  14. Ghee - 1 cup

Instructions

  1. Wash and clean the broken wheat, dals and rice. Add in a cooker together, add salt, water of sufficient quantity so that its cooked properly. It should be mashed easily when you stir with the ladle. See to it that it should not get burnt. Cool it and transfer in a bowl. Add 3 tbsp of cooked wheat separately and grind the rest till its a smooth batter, do not add water.
  2. Take another cooker, add chicken, onions, tomatoes, curd, all spices powder, add coriander and mint leaves. Cook it for 2 whistles.
  3. Take a large bottom vessel, add cooked wheat, ground wheat and the cooked chicken, mix it well. Check the salt and spices if necessary. Adjust the spices, add a little garam masala again add 2 tbsp of ghee and bring to a boil.
  4. Take a serving dish add chicken daleem, add barista, coriander and mint leaves. Add hot ghee, serve hot with boiled eggs.
