ABOUT DHANIYALU PODI - coriander seed powder RECIPE

Podis are healthy and guilt free accompaniments which go well with Rice, Idli and Dosas. They have a long shelf life and unlike pickles they are oil free and quite healthy. It can be optionally topped with Sesame oil or ghee. Coriander seeds have amazing medical properties. They aid digestion, help in keeping kidneys healthy and good for anemic and diabetic. Dhanyalu podi is a spicy powder made with coriander seeds and goes well with rice. It is very good for digestion and increasing appetite.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Coriander Seeds (dhaniyalu) - 1 glass
  2. Jeera - ¼ glass
  3. Urad Dal - 3 sp
  4. Tamarind - little
  5. Curry leaves - 2 sprigs
  6. Red Chillies - 6

Instructions

  1. In a heavy bottomed kadai, roast each ingredient separately.
  2. After cooling, grind finely.
  3. Add required amount of salt.
  4. Store in an air tight container
