ABOUT JUNNU RECIPE

This is a very popular recipe of southern part of India, where in this sweet is made using colostrum milk.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2 cup Colostrum milk 1st day or 2nd day milk preferred
  2. 1 cup Regular milk
  3. 1/2 -3/4 cup Jaggery
  4. 1/2 tsp Cardamom Powder
  5. few Kesar (optional)
  6. Black pepper (crushed)

Instructions

  1. Combine jaggery with milk and mix it till jaggery dissolves completely
  2. Add colostrum milk to it and mix .
  3. Sieve the mixture to remove any impurities
  4. Add cardamom powder and saffron strands ( optional ) .Mix once and transfer it to a cooker pan
  5. Fill the pressure cooker base with water and allow to heat as we do for idli . Place the pan with colostrum pudding inside pressure cooker and steam cook for 20-25 mins .
  6. Later take out the pan from the cooker and allow to cool the pudding . You may find some jaggery water on the top and crushed black pepper .. it's absolutely ok . Most of the time it will be absorbed as the pudding cools .
  7. Delicious junnu is ready to relish !!
