This is one the most famous tea shop cakes in Kerala. One can find this in almost in all the tea shops in Kerala.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Flour/maida- 1 cup
  2. Granulated sugar- 1\2 cup (then make a powder of it)
  3. Egg-1
  4. Caradamon- 2
  5. Baking soda- 1\2 tsp
  6. Vanilla essence- 1\2 tsp
  7. Oil to fry


  1. Powder the sugar with cardamon. Mix the flour with baking soda.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add the flour mixture, powder sugar, egg, essence and mix to from a smooth non-sticky dough by adding water.
  3. Make a log of the dough and cut it into slices of 3\4 to 1"pieces. Make a cut on each piece at the centre.
  4. Heat oil in a kadai and fry them in batches. Drain them in kitchen tissues to remove the excess oil.
  5. Serve with tea/coffee.
