  • Raw rice 1 cup
  • Jackfruit 1 cup
  • jaggery 1/2 cup
  • Dry ginger powder 1 teaspoon
  • cardamom powder 1 teaspoon
  • banana leaf 1 big cut in to small pieces

How to make Chakka ela appam ( jackfruit in banana leaf)

  1. Soak raw rice for half an hour
  2. In a grinder add raw rice, jack fruit pieces, jaggery syrup or powder and grind well
  3. Don't add much water just use 1/2 cup water. The batter should be very thick so that it can be spread in the leaf
  4. Add cardamom powder and dry ginger powder to the batter
  5. Grease banana leaf and spread the batter in it evenly and fold the leaf
  6. Steam cook it and serve hot

My Tip:

Jackfruit should be ripe
