ABOUT Sweet Potato Katori Chaat RECIPE

Sweet potato katori chaat is a very interesting and delicious recipe. The katoris are made with mashed sweet potato and flour and baked to perfection and served with sweet potato chaat. This serves as a great party snacks or any special occasions.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. For Katori:
  2. ½ cup All Purpose Flour
  3. ½ cup mashed sweet potato
  4. ¼ tsp Baking powder
  5. 1 tbsp oil
  6. ¼ tsp Chilly flakes
  7. A pinch of Ajwain seeds
  8. A pinch of kalonji
  9. 30 ml milk
  10. For Chaat:
  11. 1½ cup chopped sweet potato boiled
  12. 1 onion chopped
  13. 1 green chilly chopped
  14. 1 tomato chopped
  15. ½ tsp Chilly powder
  16. 1 tbsp chaat masala
  17. 3 tbsps Pomegranate arils
  18. 1 large masala papad fried
  19. 3-4 tbsps chopped coriander leaves
  20. 1 tbsp Lemon juice
  21. Salt to taste
  22. Few tbsps curd to serve with chaat

Instructions

  1. For making the dough for Katori, in a mixing bowl add all the ingredients mentioned in the list except milk and mix well.
  2. Add the milk, mix and knead to make a smooth and soft dough. Cover and keep aside for 10-15 mins.
  3. Divide the dough into 8-9 medium balls.
  4. Flatten the balls slightly and roll them into thin poori and prick them all over with fork.
  5. Grease the back of muffin cups with oil
  6. Take the rolled pooris and wrap the outer muffin cup and shape it.
  7. Preheat oven @180 for 10 mins. Put the wrapped muffin cups in a baking tray and bake for 15 mins or till golden.
  8. After 5 mins remove the baked katori from oven and unmould it.
  9. Add all the chaat ingredients in a mixing bowl except fried papad and mix well.
  10. Just before serving crushed the fried papad and mix well.
  11. Scoop the chaat in the baked katori, garnish with curd and chaat masala and serve.
