I always try to replace all Purpose flour with wheat flour. So I grated Sweet potato , add wheat flour and little Sooji to make pakoda crispy, and then dunked in a Indo chinese gravy. A perfect side dish for a delicious chinese meal.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Sweet potato 1
  2. Wheat flour 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp
  3. Sooji 2 tbsp
  4. Garlic chopped fine 3 tsp
  5. Ginger finely chopped 3 tsp
  6. Finely dices onions 2 tbsp
  7. Finely diced Capsicum 1 tbsp.
  8. Almond coarsely ground . 2 tbsp.
  9. Dark soya sauce 3 tbsp
  10. Vinegar 1 tbsp
  11. Red Chili Powder 1 Tsp
  12. Tomato ketchup 3 tsp
  13. Sugar 1 tbsp
  14. Black pepper powder 1/2 tsp
  15. Olive oil 1 tbsp
  16. Oil for frying.
  17. Sweet bell peppers chopped for garnishing.

Instructions

  1. Mix Wheat flour and Sooji in a bowl.
  2. Add 1 tsp chopped garlic and 1 tsp chopped ginger.
  3. Add Red chili powder and 1 tbsp Soya sauce..
  4. Wash and peel sweet potato.
  5. Grate it coarsely and add to the flour mixture.
  6. Add salt to taste. Add water and mix well so that you can make balls.
  7. Heat oil in a pan enough for deep frying.
  8. Add 1 tbsp oil to the flour mixture as we are not using maida.
  9. Take 1 tbsp wheat flour in a plate.
  10. Make the balls of required size , roll in flour and deep fry.
  11. Remove on an absorbent paper and transfer in a bowl.
  12. Heat olive oil in a pan. Add diced Onions and bell peppers.
  13. Saute, add remaining chopped ginger, garlic.
  14. Saute a while and add Soya sauce.
  15. Add black pepper powder. Add green chilli sauce.
  16. Cook for a minute, add water.
  17. Let the mixture boil. Add water in 1 tbsp wheat flour and add to the boiling mixture.
  18. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Add Tomato ketchup and sugar. Add vinegar.
  19. Add almond powder.
  20. Cook the sauce. Add your fried balls. Mix well and turn off the heat.
  21. Serve with garnish of yellow and red coloured Sweet bell Peppers.
  22. You can add sweet bell peppers to the sauce also after turning the heat off.
