Ingredients to make pyazi

  • 2 large onions thinly sliced
  • 3/4 cup gram flour/besan
  • 1 tbsp rice flour
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp carom seeds
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds roughly crushed
  • 1/2 tsp coriander seeds roughly crushed
  • 1 tbsp fresh coriander leaves chopped
  • 1 tbsp spring onion leaves chopped
  • 1 green chili chopped
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • water as required to make the mixture
  • oil for deep frying

How to make pyazi

  1. take chopped onion in a mixing bowl
  2. add all the ingrediants one by one except water and mix well
  3. now add water and make a thick mixture
  4. heat oil in a kadai
  5. damp your palms and divide the prepared mixture into large equal portions shaped into balls
  6. deep fry the balls in hot oil till half done
  7. drain the balls on absorbent paper
  8. apply some oil on a board or a plate and flatten half fried pyazis one by one
  9. again deep fry these flattened pyazis in hot oil till crispy and golden
  10. drain on absorbent paper and serve
