About BREAD CIGARS Recipe

Crispy bread cigar rolls is a very very simple dish that you can make in flat 15 minutes and fits any party. This is one such recipe where you can totally be creative and play around with flavors. These bread cigar rolls should be served as starter with a soup and it will be an absolute hit.It is a different snack recipe with fresh bread or leftover but not the rotten one. This bread cigar is made with fresh leftover bread slices and some Indian spice powders and they turn out to be appetizing. They are tasty and with a slight crispy texture on the outside with delightful Indian flavors and mellow sweetness. So this can be an instant treat for your kids and guests only within a few minutes.

BREAD CIGARS

Ingredients to make BREAD CIGARS

  • Bread slices - 8 (I used sweet white bread, you can use any bread you want; sweet bread will taste better)
  • Corn flour - 3 teaspoons
  • Chopped coriander leaves - 1 tablespoon
  • red chilli powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • cumin powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Chaat masala - 2 pinches (optional)
  • salt - 1/4 teaspoon (adjust as per taste)
  • oil - For deep frying

How to make BREAD CIGARS

  1. Tear bread slices and sprinkle some water and knead well.
  2. Add corn flour, red chilli powder, cumin powder, chaat masala, salt, coriander leaves and knead until it seems like smooth yet stiff dough (similar to chapati dough texture). Now check for salt and add if needed.
  3. Set aside for 10 to 15 minutes so that the dough absorbs the flavors well. No harm in proceeding immediately, if you don't have enough time.
  4. Pinch out small equal portions from the dough and roll them between your palms to form finger long cylindrical shapes. Cut the ends with a knife to give a clean look if you want.
  5. Now place a frying pan on flame and pour enough oil to deep fry the prepared cigars.
  6. When the oil turns hot gently slide in the prepared cigars.
  7. Fry on a medium flame until they turn brown in colour.
  8. Remove from oil using a slotted spoon and place on a tissue paper to remove excess oil. Serve hot with ketchup.

My Tip:

Just make sure that you do not add too much of water while preparing dough. The dough should be hard yet smooth.
