Traditional Italian icecream which is denser creamier and yummilicious

Vanilla Gelato

Ingredients to make Vanilla Gelato

  • 1/2 lt full fat milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 2.5 tsp vanilla extract (2 vanilla pods)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Chilled air tight container

How to make Vanilla Gelato

  1. Mix vanilla and milk together. Heat milk. Do not bring to boil
  2. Beat sugar, egg, egg yolks in a seperate bowl using hand mixer until frothy
  3. Pour 1/4 cup warm milk to egg mixture and beat once again
  4. Pour the egg mixture to milk and return saucepan to heat
  5. Stir continuously on low medium heat until it starts thickening. Do not boil. Switch off. If using vanilla pods, take it out from milk now
  6. Allow to cool completely. Add cream and blend well. Pour in air tight container. Freeze for 3-4 hours.
  7. Blend gelato again and freeze overnight. Using icecream scoop, serve cold

Tastes best with vanilla pods
