Nasi Goreng / Indonesian fried rice

Ingredients to make Nasi Goreng / Indonesian fried rice

  • Cooked and chilled rice 1 big bowl 1/2 kg approximately
  • Red long chillies 4 chopped
  • shallots 4 finely chopped
  • garlic pods 8 finely chopped
  • cashews 5 soaked for 30 minutes.
  • tomato medium sized 1 finely chopped
  • carrot diced 1 cup
  • Green beans chopped 1/2 cup
  • Black sweet soya sauce 2 tablespoons
  • Fresh coriander leaves finely chopped 1/2 bunch
  • spring onions chopped 5 tablespoons
  • oil 2,-3 tablespoons.

How to make Nasi Goreng / Indonesian fried rice

  1. In a blender , take red chillies , garlic , cashews , tomatoes , shallots . Grind them into a smooth paste .
  2. In a wok , heat 3 tablespoons oil . Add the ground paste and sauté the paste in the oil for about 4 minutes .
  3. Add the chopped carrots and beans .
  4. Sauté again for 5 minutes .
  5. The veggies would turn crunchy .
  6. Now add the cooled cooked rice .
  7. Toss without smashing the rice .
  8. Add 2 tablespoons black sweet soya sauce .
  9. Toss the rice quickly in medium heat so that every grain gets coated well with the masala .
  10. Fry the rice under low heat for another 5 minutes .
  11. Add freshly chopped cilantros / parsley .
  12. Indonesian fried rice / Nasi Goreng is ready .
  13. Serve hot with an egg omelette topped on Nasi Goreng .
