Dates Matthri

Ingredients to make Dates Matthri

  • 250 grams fard dates
  • 500ml water to boil
  • jaggery 50 grams
  • Refined flour 500 grams
  • semolina 100 grams
  • ghee 500 ml
  • cardamom powder 1tbsp

How to make Dates Matthri

  1. First of all boil dates with water on low heat for 20-25 minutes.
  2. After boiling , mash the dates and strain it's water to a separate bowl.
  3. Add jaggery and let it cooled to normal temperature.
  4. Now take a separate pan and add semolina ,all purpose flour, cardamom powder and mix properly.
  5. Add dates water to it and knead in a smooth dough ,avoid adding plain water and let it rest for 1/2hour.
  6. After 1/2 hour knead again and roll into a 1/2mm thick chapati.
  7. Cut into your desired shapes with cookie cutter.
  8. Deep fry all matthries in ghee on low heat till they turn golden brown.
  9. Serve hot or store in a container for later usage.

My Tip:

You may take plain wheat flour if want to avoid maida or refined flour.
