Chicken khichidi Melmish

ABOUT Chicken khichidi Melmish RECIPE

We all try either veggie khichidi or plain khichidi. This dish is a wholesome platter where there is goodness of protein as well as carbs.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 2 cups of basmati rice soaked in water for 30 mins.
  2. 1 cup of moong dal, 1/2 cup of masoor dal.
  3. 500 gms of chicken with bone.
  4. 2 big chopped onions.
  5. 2 teaspoon of Cumin seeds.
  6. 2 teaspoon of ginger garlic paste.
  7. 1 teaspoon each of cumin powder , red chilli powder and Corriander powder.
  8. Bay leaf and whole red chilli for tempering.
  9. 1/2 cup of yogurt.
  10. Ghee 5 tablespoon.
  11. 4 tablespoon of white oil.
  12. Slit green chilli is optional.
  13. Potatoes are optional.

Instructions

  1. Dry fry moong dal until it's red colour and soak it in water along with masoor dal in a bowl.
  2. Take the soaked basmati rice and the lentils in a wok and start boiling with 6 cups of water.
  3. In a pan take white oil and add chopped onions and fry.
  4. Then put the chicken pieces to it and fry them for 5 mins
  5. To it add ginger garlic paste and saute.
  6. Then put cumin powder , red chilli powder and 1 teaspoon of ghee to it.
  7. Saute the chicken along with Masala. Add 1/2 cup of yougurt to it and cook in low flame.
  8. Add the chicken in the rice and dal mixture. Add water if required.
  9. Add salt and haldi to it and cover it until it's soft and boiled.
  10. For tempering take the ghee and add bay leaf and whole red chilli and cumin seeds.
  11. Pour this tempering to the khichidi. Add the slit green chilli and serve.
  12. More ghee can be added while serving.
