About Jadoh and Black Sesame Rice Recipe

These are some North East rice dishes that are generally prepared with chicken or meat and red rice.

Jadoh and Black Sesame Rice

Ingredients to make Jadoh and Black Sesame Rice

  • For the black sesame rice:
  • 1 cup boiled rice
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 4 green chillies, slit
  • 2 tbsp black sesame seeds, roasted
  • salt to taste
  • For the Jadoh:
  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tezpatta
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 4 green chillies, slit
  • salt to taste

How to make Jadoh and Black Sesame Rice

  1. Boil the rice.
  2. Heat a vessel and add a little oil, once it's heated add the grated ginger and green chillies, fry it for a minute.
  3. Then add 2 tbsp of sesame paste and fry the masala. Next add the rice and mix well.
  4. Serve it hot with dal.
  5. To prepare the jadoh, take a vessel and add some oil.
  6. Once the oil is smoking hot, lower the flame and add the tejpatta and onion. Fry till it turns translucent. Then add the ginger paste and fry till the raw smell goes away.
  7. Add the chopped carrots, turmeric powder and fry the masala. Then add the rice, salt and saute it. Pour in 2 cups of water, once it boils, lower the flame. Cover it and cook.
  8. Garnish with boiled eggs or shredded fried chicken.

My Tip:

After cooking it, add a dollop of butter on top. Vegetarians can add chunks of tofu as a garnish to this dish.
