Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Urad dal 1 cup
  2. rice 1 cup
  3. Chana dal 1 cup
  4. Green chillies 5
  5. salt
  6. oil
  7. Curry leaves chopped a handfull
  8. Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  9. Seasame seeds 1 tbsp
  10. ginger 1 inch
  11. Asfotedia/ hing 1/4 tsp

Instructions

  1. SOAK 1 CUP RICE
  2. 1 CUP CHANA DAL
  3. 1 CUP URAD DAL
  4. SOAK WITH SUFFICIENT WATER FOR 3 TO 4 HOURS
  5. ADD WASHED AND SOAKED RICE AND DALS TO WET GRINDER. GRIND WITH LITTLE SOAKED WATER
  6. GRIND 5 GREEN CHILLIES AND 1 INCH GINGER
  7. GROUND MIXTURE
  8. ADD TO THE BATTER
  9. ADD SALT
  10. LEAVE THE BATTER TO FERMENT OVERNIGHT. YOU CAN ADD ENO FRUIT SALT IF BATTER DOES NOT FERMENT
  11. ADD TO TSPS OIL TO A TAWA
  12. SPREAD IT BY SWIRLING
  13. SPRINKLE A TBSP OF SEASAME SEEDS
  14. AS IT CRACKLES ADD 1/4 TSP ASFOTEDIA
  15. CHOP CURRY LEAVES
  16. ADD A GENEROUS AMOUNT
  17. SPRINKLE A TSP OF RED CHILLI POWDER
  18. NOW ADD DOLLOPS OF BATTER
  19. SPREAD
  20. THIS IS SPREAD WELL
  21. COVER AND COOK ON LOW HEAT FOR 5 MINUTES
  22. FEEL DONE ON ONE SIDE THEN FLIP WITH A BROAD SPATULA
  23. ADD A TSP OF OIL ALL AROUND LEAVE FOR 2 MINUTES
  24. FLIP ONCE AGAIN
  25. BEAUTIFULLY DONE
