About Bengali fish curry with potato and pointed gourd Recipe

It's a very common and palatable dish of Bengali cuisine. It is a signature dish of Bengali.This delicious soupy dish is Surved with steamed rice.

Ingredients to make Bengali fish curry with potato and pointed gourd

  • Katla fish 6 pieces
  • 2 chopped potatoes
  • 4 sliced pointed gourds
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 green chillies
  • 1 red chilly
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Panchforon 1/2 tsp
  • cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
  • 2 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tsp Corriander powder
  • 1 tsp red chilly powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  • 2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 3 tsp salt
  • 1 cup mustard Oil
  • 1 Cup water

How to make Bengali fish curry with potato and pointed gourd

  1. Smear the Katla fish pieces with 1 tsp salt and 1 tsp turmeric powder,kept aside for 10 mins.Fry the fish pieces in hot mustard oil.
  2. Also fry the potato and pointed gourds.
  3. Again heat mustard oil, crackle the cumin seeds,panchforon each 1/2 tsp, bayleaf, add chopped onion ,green chilly,red chilly.Sprinkle 1 tsp salt on it.
  4. Add 2 tsp ginger-garlic paste, 2 tsp corriander powder,1 tsp Red chilly powder, 2 tsp turmeric powder and Salt to taste.
  5. Add fried potato and pointed gourd on it, and mix well with the masala mixture.
  6. Now add 1 cup of water,after that release the fried fish on the soup.
  7. Sprinkle 1/2 tsp garam masala powder on the soup,and serve it with steamed rice.

My Tip:

You can also use black cumin seeds.
