Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. 100 grams dried seedles tamarind
  2. 80 gram jaggery powder
  3. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  4. Water as needed
  5. 1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
  6. 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  7. 2 tablespoon castor sugar
  8. 1.5 teaspoon ghee


  1. soak the tamarind in warm water for 10 minutes
  2. post soaking, mash the tamarind with the water into a soft dough
  3. melt the ghee in a non stick pan
  4. on Low heat, dry roast the jaggery powder for 2-3 minutes
  5. next add the tamarind pulp, salt, red chilli and cumin powders
  6. stir continuously on Low heat, as the mixture thickens
  7. when the mixture comes together, take off heat and let cool a bit
  8. spread the sugar on a plate
  9. when the mixture is cool enough to handle, make small balls of the mixture and coat each with the sugar
  10. store airtight and enjoy!
