Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 2 medium sized onion sliced
  2. 3 ripe medium sized tomatoes chopped
  3. 6 garlic pieces crushed
  4. Few curry leaves
  5. 1/2 cup slightly thick tamrind juice
  6. 2 tbsp chilli powder
  7. 3 tbsp coriander powder
  8. Salt as per taste
  9. 2 cups water
  10. 1/2 tesp turmeric powder
  11. 8 masala vadai(you can refer to the recipe i have posted)
  12. Seasoning ( 1tesp mustard seed,1/2 tesp fenugreek seeds)
  13. Oil 6 tbsp


  1. Add oil in a deep cooking pan place on medium heat
  2. Add mustard , fenugreek let splutter
  3. Add curry leaf and garlic saute it,add onions saute till light brown
  4. Now add the tomatoes and saute till half cooked
  5. Add turmeric,salt,chilli powder and coriander powder saute it,add 2 cup of water and stir
  6. Let boil for 2 minutes,add tamarind juice mix and let boil
  7. Wait for the curry to thicken a bit
  8. Now add the prepared masala vadai,let boil for 3 to 4 minutes.
  9. Remove and keep it covered for the vadai to soak.
  10. Serve with steamed rice,it can be served as a side dish too.
