About Kara kulambu Recipe

This is a recipe of a spicy gravy, that can be served with some hot rice and papad on the side.

Kara kulambu

Ingredients to make Kara kulambu

  • Sesame oil : 4 tsp
  • salt
  • Small onion : 10
  • tomato 1
  • Green chilli 2
  • Asafoedita 1 pinch
  • turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • tamarind small size
  • For tadks
  • mustard seeds
  • curry leaves
  • fenugreek
  • Small onion 2
  • For coconut paste
  • Grated coconut 4 tsp
  • Small onion 4
  • For roast and grind
  • Red chilli 4
  • rice 1/2 tsp
  • Cummin seeds 1/2 tsp
  • coriander 1 tsp

How to make Kara kulambu

  1. Dry roast red chilli, coriander, rice, fennel seeds for 2 min and keep aside
  2. Heat oil in a pan add Small onion, tomato, green chilli curry leaves and saute it
  3. Add salt , dry roasted powder and saute it
  4. Add turmeric powder, tamarind water and cook for 15 min
  5. Add coconut paste and cook for 2 min
  6. Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds, fenugreek, chopped onion and saute it
  7. Add it to the gravy and switch off the flame
