About Mango Phirni Recipe

Mango phirni a delightful dessert during mango season. A simple, rich dessert made with whole milk, rice, mango puree & garnished with nuts.

Mango Phirni

Ingredients to make Mango Phirni

  • Ripe mangoes 2 medium (pureed)
  • rice 4 tablespoons
  • Milk 1 litre
  • sugar 3/4 cup
  • pistachios sliced 8-10
  • almonds sliced 6-8
  • 6-8 kesar dissolved in milk
  • elaichi powder for garnishing
  • rose petals for garnishing

How to make Mango Phirni

  1. 1.Soak rice in two cups of water for half an hour. Drain and grind to a coarse paste. Dilute rice paste with half a cup of water.
  2. 2.Heat milk and bring it to boil. Gradually stir in the rice paste, reduce heat and simmer for three to four minutes, stirring continuously or until the milk thickens well.
  3. 1.3.Add sugar, and continue to simmer till sugar dissolves and is incorporated well. Remove from heat, cool to room temperature and add the mango puree keeping some aside for garnishing.
  4. 4.Pour this mixture into individual earthenware or ceramic bowls, garnish with sliced pistachios, almonds, mango puree, elaichi powder and serve chilled.
