It is one of the dish from puri Jagannath temple. It is prepared without onion and garlic.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Pumpkin 1.5 cups
  2. Yam or suran 1 cup
  3. Potol or pointed gourd 1/2 cup
  4. Raw banana 1 cup
  5. Brinjal 1/2 cup
  6. Red leafy or koshala saga 1 cup
  7. Urad dal Badi 8 fried
  8. Ginger 1/2 inch properly mashed
  9. Haldi 1/2 tspn
  10. salt as per taste
  11. For paste :
  12. Mustard seeds 1 tspn
  13. fennel seed 1 tspn
  14. Cumin seeds 1 tspn
  15. Grated coconut 1 tbspn
  16. For Tadka
  17. Rai 1/2 tspn
  18. Dry Red chillie 1
  19. Ghee 1/2 tspn


  1. First cut all the veggies into small cubes.
  2. Then in a pan put this veggies along with water, haldi and salt.
  3. Let it cook until veggies are half done.
  4. Then add the paste along with Badi and leafy vegetable or koshala saga.
  5. Simmer and let it cook for 10 mins.
  6. When its done now prepare for tadka. Heat a pan add ghee in it add Rai then chillie. When it splutter pour over that prepared vegetable. Now mahura is ready. It is best served with rice.
