I have so many other recipes for chocolate cake but this one using yogurt has just become my new favourite. You'll get the same incredible, moist and soft sponge texture you find in a store bought cake but all the great taste of a homemade cake. This cake doesn't even need to be iced or frosted. Just go ahead and indulge

Eggless Chocolate Cake

Ingredients to make Eggless Chocolate Cake

  • all purpose flour - 1 ½ Cup
  • sugar – 1 Cup or little less
  • butter – ½ Cup
  • Milk – ½ Cup
  • Thick yogurt/Dahi –  Cup
  • Cocoa powder - 1 tbsp
  • lemon Juice – 1 tbsp
  • lemon Zest – ½ Tsp
  • Vanilla Essence – ½ Tsp
  • baking soda – ½ Tsp
  • Baking Powder –  Tsp

How to make Eggless Chocolate Cake

  1. Pre heat the oven at 200 degrees c. Grease and dust a baking pan.
  2. Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder and cocoa powder.
  3. Whisk together butter and sugar till creamy in a bowl.
  4. Add lemon juice, lemon zest and vanilla essence, beat well.
  5. Mix in yogurt and flour mixture, beat for 1-2 mins. Add milk and mix well.
  6. Pour the batter in the tin and bake for 35-40 mins.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
  8. Transfer it to a wire rack and let it cool.
  9. Cut into slices and dust with powdered sugar.
