Ingredients to make Greek Loukoumades

  • Refine flour /maida - 1 cup
  • curd - 3 tbsp
  • Baking powder - 1 tsp
  • baking soda -1/2 tsp
  • oil -2 tbsp
  • sugar - 2 tbsp
  • Warm milk -1/2 cup
  • water -1 cup
  • sugar -1/2cup
  • honey -1/2 cup
  • cinnamon powder - 2 tsp

How to make Greek Loukoumades

  1. Take a bowl, add maida, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, yogurt, oil. Combine all, now add warm milk gradually and make a thick batter. Cover it and keep aside for 1 hour.
  2. Heat a saucepan with 1 cup water, add 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup honey , 1 tsp cinnamon powder. Stir well until sugar dissolves, make a semi thick sugar-honey syrup, let it cool.
  3. After 1 hour your batter will rise, then stir a little. Heat pan with enough oil for Deep frying. Now drop a spoonful batter into medium hot oil, fry both sides until golden in colour.
  4. Dip the spoon in water ,every time the dough starts to stick on it.
  5. Keep making more fritters this way.
  6. After well fried, place fritters on a paper towel, then transfer into a serving plate. Pour warm honey syrup over them and sprinkle cinnamon powder.
  7. Greek dessert loukoumades is ready to serve.
