ABOUT Muri ghonto ( fish head cooked by aromatic rice) RECIPE

Muri ghonto is an authentic bengali dish. It can be made either with rice or moong daal. This is a dish which is cooked with rice but also served with rice.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1fried fish head
  2. 1bay leaf
  3. 1/2cup gobindobhog or kalajeera rice
  4. 1tsp Cumin seeds
  5. Whole garam masala( 2pcs each)
  6. 1 midium size onion chopped
  7. 1tbsp ginger paste
  8. 1 TOMATO CHOPPED
  9. 1tsp turmeric powder
  10. 1tsp chilli powder
  11. 1TSP CUMIN POWDER
  12. 2-3green chillies
  13. 1cup water
  14. 1tsp Sugar
  15. 1-2tbsp ghee
  16. 1tsp garam masala powder
  17. Oil 2-3tbsp
  18. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat oil , add bay leaf,Whole garam masala, cumin seeds.cook till it gives a nice aroma.
  2. Add chopped onions,fry it till golden.add green chillies also.
  3. Add ginger paste and tomatoes.
  4. Add potatoes and all the spices except ghee and garammasala.
  5. Now add rice and water.mix it well.let it cook for sometimes.
  6. Add fish head in between.cover the lid again.
  7. Cook it in low heat till rice is cooked and water is all used up.
  8. Now add ghee and garam masala on top.and it's ready to served.
