ABOUT Sheermal RECIPE

Comes from mughlai cuisine, this Indian flat bread is considered as royal food, mainly made in weddings in awadh part in uttar Pradesh, mosty it is served with mutton curry!

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 4 cups All Purpose Flour
  2. 1 egg, lightly beaten
  3. 1 cup warm milk
  4. 1/2 cup clarified butter
  5. 2 tsp sugar
  6. 1-1/2 tsp instant yeast
  7. 1/2 tsp Salt
  8. Red colour with little milk

Instructions

  1. Sift flour, yeast and salt in a large bowl. Add sugar, egg and 1/2 cup clarified butter. Knead with warm milk and make a soft dough. Cover and let it aside for 2 hours to rise.
  2. Preheat oven at 200 degree C.
  3. Take red colour, mix in little milk and keep aside.
  4. Divide dough into eight portions and shape into the balls.
  5. Take medium portion from dough and roll medium roti.
  6. Fold it and Stretch it and again fold like lachha paratha.
  7. Roll it and apply red colour at one side of it. Other part would be remain as it is.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes or until fluffy and golden.
  9. 1 batch would take 10 minutes, so all over it took 20 minutes.
  10. Sheermal is ready to be served with chicken or mutton curry.
