This is traditional gujurati snack .healthy and tasty steam muthiyas are best go with your evening tea as well as side dish for your lunch and dinner.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 bowl grated lauki/ghiya
  2. 1/2 bowl gehu ka aata
  3. 3 tablespoon besan/gramfloar
  4. 1 teaspoon sugar
  5. 1 teaspoon haldi
  6. 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  7. 1 teaspoon roasted jeera powder
  8. 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  9. 1 teaspoon oil
  10. 1 teaspoon ginger chilli paste
  11. 1 teaspoon baking soda/fruit salt
  12. Salt to taste
  13. For tempering...
  14. 1 tablespoon oil
  15. 1 teaspoon rai dana
  16. 1 teaspoon seasme seeds
  17. 8 curry leaves
  18. 2 green chilli chopped


  1. Take a big bowl.add aata besan all dry ingredients and mix well.
  2. Add grated ghiya lemon juice and mix all .It will form a soft dough.
  3. Place a steamer on gass and heat water .Greece the steamer plate .
  4. Now take a portion from dough and make a log shape .
  5. Place these logs on Greece plate.cover it .
  6. Slow the flame and steam for 20 minutes.
  7. Check after 20 minutes.if u see some cracks over muthiyas they are done.
  8. Remove the plate and let it cool.
  9. Cut the muthiyas in pieces.
  10. For tadka...Heat oil in kadai .Add rai til curry patta green chilly and Muthiya .
  11. Fry these Muthiya till crisp.serve hot
