ABOUT Tandoori Paratha RECIPE

Tandoori Paratha is an authentic traditional recipe of Punjab . Tandoori Paratha tastes yum with any gravies . Whole wheat flour is only used for this recipe traditionally as these parathas are served during winters .

Ingredients Serving: 7

  1. Whole wheat flour 2 cups
  2. Salt 1/4 teaspoon
  3. Baking powder 1 teaspoon
  4. Baking soda 2 pinches .
  5. Powdered Sugar 1 teaspoon
  6. Curd little sour 1/2 cup
  7. Ghee 2 tablespoons
  8. Melted butter 6 tablespoons or as required
  9. White sesame seeds for sprinkling
  10. Water 1/2 cup or as required

Instructions

  1. In a wide bowl , take 2 cups wheat flour .
  2. Add salt , baking powder , baking soda and powdered sugar . Combine all together .
  3. Add 2 tablespoons ghee .
  4. Add curd and start kneading the dough .
  5. Add water gradually while kneading to a flaky consistency dough .
  6. Cover the dough with a damp moist cloth and rest the dough for minimum 30 minutes .
  7. After 30 minutes , divide the dough into equal sized balls . The balls should be little big than medium to achieve a thick chewy tandoori paratha texture .
  8. Spread melted butter on every balls completely to ensure the balls remain moist .
  9. Now start rolling each ball to medium / desired sized parathas .
  10. Line a parchment sheet on a baking tray .
  11. Arrange the parathas on the sheet . Don’t overload .
  12. Brush melted unsalted butter on the parathas .
  13. Sprinkle white sesame seeds .
  14. Place the tray in a preheated cooker or oven and bake for 7 to 10 minutes or until brown spots are visible .
  15. Tandoori Parathas are ready .
  16. Drizzle butter and serve hot with a gravy .
  17. If preferred , cut the tandoori parathas into triangles to give a restaurant effect .
