ABOUT Dharwar peda RECIPE

Dharwar peda is basically a traditional sweet of Dhawar, Karnataka, made of cottage cheese and sugar and few other minor ingredients. It is a sweet of excellent taste with an aroma of roasted sugar and original colour.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. 1 litter milk+ extra milk
  2. 2 tbsp lemon juice
  3. 1 tbsp ghee
  4. 4 tbsp sugar
  5. 1/4 cardamom powder
  6. 1/4 cup castor sugar

Instructions

  1. Boil the milk and add lemon juice. Make cottage cheese. Strain the cheese and wash it thoroughly.
  2. Take the prepared paneer into kadhai and break into pieces.
  3. Saute on low flame till paneer is dry.
  4. Add 1 tbsp ghee and roast the paneer till it turns into golden colour
  5. Add sugar and 1 tbsp milk mix well.
  6. Keep stirring on low to medium heat till sugar melts.
  7. . Once the milk starts to dry, add a tbsp of milk. Continue to saute until the mixture turns golden brown. Take out from the heat.
  8. Put mixture into blender when it was cool and blend into powder.
  9. Put powder mixture back into kadhai and add 2-3 tbsp milk. Continue to stir untill the mixture turns dark golden colour.
  10. Add cardamom powder, mix well and take out from heat. Allow to cool slightly. Make a shape of cylindrical roll
  11. Roll in castor sugar coating uniformly. Dharwar peda is ready to serve.
