Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 150 gms of dates deseeded
  2. 70 gms brown sugar
  3. 3/4 cup + 2 tbsp milk
  4. 1/4 cup oil
  5. 2 drops of vanilla essence
  6. 1 tsp soda
  7. 1 tsp vinegar
  8. 1 cup maida [APF]
  9. For Glaze
  10. 100 gms chocolate
  11. 1 tbsp milk


  1. Remove the seeds of the dates and soak them in warm milk for 30 mins.
  2. Once the dates milk mixture cools down, add sugar and grind them into smooth paste.
  3. Transfer the paste to a wide bowl.
  4. Clean the mixie vessel with little milk [2 tbsp here] and add to the paste.
  5. Add oil and blend with wire whisk. Keep the mixture aside
  6. Sieve flour and baking soda together, and then add these dry ingredients gradually to wet mixture, 1 tbsp at a time.
  7. Using spatula fold the mixture evenly without forming lumps.
  8. Preheat the oven at 180 degrees C.
  9. Pour the mixture into greased baking pan/mould and bake the batter until done. Do toothpick test to check the doneness.
  10. Allow it to cool on wire rack.
  11. To prepare glaze, combine white chocolate with milk , heat it on low flame [double boiler method] and stir it until melted.
  12. Pour the warm glaze over cooled cake. Instead of glaze you may also dust the top of cakes with icing sugar.
