Poha chivda is one of the easiest and healthy snacks ..and Can be stored for days n days... My mom used to make this regularly n stack it for us...it was one of our favourite after school snacks ..n we siblings always ended up fighting for the nuts n coconut pieces in it.. Simple pleasures but happiest feelings...

Poha chivda !!! Atukula chuduva !!!

Ingredients to make Poha chivda !!! Atukula chuduva !!!

  • 3 cups : Thin poha / rice flakes / atukulu
  • 4 to 5 : green chillies slit
  • 2 tbsp : roasted chana dal/ daliya
  • 2 tbsp : raisins
  • 2 tbsp : cashews
  • 3 tbsp : raw peanuts
  • 1/4 cup : coconut pieces an inch sized ( fresh / dry )
  • A sprig : curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp : oil
  • 1 tsp : sesame seeds
  • 1/2 tsp : mustard seeds
  • 1/4 tsp : turmeric
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp : sugar
  • 1/4 tsp : citric acid

How to make Poha chivda !!! Atukula chuduva !!!

  1. Take the poha in a microwave safe bowl n microwave on high for a min or two until they turn crisp.
  2. Now In a non stick pan. Add oil and heat it. Once warm add the mustard seeds. Allow them to pop.
  3. Next add in the green chillies and curry leaves, fry them for a min or two, later add in the peanuts and roasted chana dal. Once the peanuts and daliya are fried to golden , add raisins and cashews. Fry them well, once the raisins puff up add sesame seeds ..
  4. This takes hardly a min to fry. Now add the turmeric, stir well, later add the poha and toss until they are mixed well with the tempering. Keep it on low.
  5. Now take salt , sugar and citric acid on a flat surface n crush them with a rolling pin until powder ..
  6. Now sprinkle it on the poha mix and toss. Check and adjust the seasoning. Cook for a min on low. Now turn off n cool it to room temperature. Once completely cooled. Store and cherish.

My Tip:

Microwaving the poha makes them crisp !! You can skip and fry in the pan itself on low !!
